ESF is one of the sponsors of Adult Learners’ Week 2009 which runs from 9 -15 May. During the week, the achievements of ESF participants and projects will be celebrated at regional and national awards ceremonies.
Frank Harris (pictured) is receiving the national ‘ESF Outstanding Learner’ award. Along with other national ESF winners, Frank will receive his award at the national award ceremony in London on 15 May.
Following 35 years in and out of prison, addicted to cocaine and time living on the streets, Frank Harris has transformed his life. In four years he has quit drugs, gained ‘A’ grade GCSEs and started training in counselling to support vulnerable people.
“My learning has empowered me and given me the belief that my future is in my hands…I now feel liberated and free from the fear of prison and addiction,” said Frank.
