A European Social Fund dissemination event took place on 21 January at Chilford Hall, near Cambridge. The event showcased the results of East of England Development Agency (EEDA) and ESF investment in the region over the programming period 2000-2006. In total, over £20 million of EEDA and ESF funding has been invested.
The event was an opportunity to reflect on the programme which is shortly coming to a close, look at issues encountered along the way and celebrate successes. The results of an external independent evaluation of the two Co-financing Plans over the period 2000-2006 were given by Research House. This evaluation report demonstrated how effectively the programme has been run and highlighted lessons to be learnt for the next round of funding.
Case studies gave real accounts of projects, including Enterprising Women and Engage to Work. These verified and celebrated the successes of the ESF programme and enabled others to gain information from experienced projects whilst illustrating the potential of ESF investment.
The results of the evaluation, the case studies, and delegates’ feedback, will help build on the recommendations and lessons learnt to inform the new 2007-2013 programme. EEDA is planning to launch its prospectus for the first round of funding under the new ESF programme towards the end of February 2008.
