ESF Evaluation Team Good Practice materials

The ESF Evaluation team analyse information collected from ESF projects, and also commission independent research. The team publishes a range of materials on ESF including the following good practice guides.

Guide to Measuring Soft Outcomes and Distance Travelled

This report aims to assist projects and organisations to understand and implement systems for recording soft outcomes and distance travelled. It offers a definition of these terms and presents different methods for recording and measuring them. Primarily its aim is to be a resource for ESF projects where the target groups are some distance from labour market participation.

Good practice Guide for Objective 3 (2000-2006):

Lessons Emerging from the Evaluation of Objective 4 (1998-2000) in Britain

This guide presents examples and lessons which emerged from the evaluation of Objective 4. It is for projects and organisations working under the new programming period 2000-2006 which are aiming to stimulate learning in the workplace and encourage a more adaptable and entrepreneurial workforce. It is designed for individuals or partnerships to compare their current or proposed interventions with the guide's examples. This will allow them to identify gaps or opportunities and develop or extend their interventions, or review their current good practice.
